Civil Duty. Defintion: Putting your government in its place

Recently, I had to define the word citizenship. The first notions that came to me were serving your country and civil duty. However, serving your country democratically translates to the role of good democratic citizens. A democratic nation should be instilling fear in its government to the point where the nation's citizens should be in command. Voicing concerns and protesting when disagreement arises are actions that are to be implemented.
